Another blogger was writing about a inmate requesting a sex change, paid for with tax dollars. Here's my thoughts.

Spring Break
Ah snow. I don't get to see it that often. Nor do I get to see very much of it when I do. It has always been much of a mystery to me, since I reign from the lower-east United States (Florida, to be exact). Well, that all changed the day spring break started. After a 19 hour drive into the heart of the rocky mountains, my whole perception of snow changed. It snowed two feet- TWO FEET- during the first two days we were there. I have NEVER seen that much snow in my life. Let me just say, thank god it did snow that much, because if it hadn't, I would be seriously injured right now. I went snowboarding for the second time in my life, and man did I fall a lot. But the best part about snow is that it acts like a giant cushion; falling didn't hurt a bit! We went to the ski resort named "Mary Jane", which was suprisingly not busy for the conditions. I had an absolute blast, and I now have a newfound respect for the cold. Next spring break, Colorado here I come!

Lowering the drinking age... Yes or No?
I've been thinking and reading a lot about the legal drinking age in the US, and I posted a comment about it here.

SMU RA's: Friend or Foe?
I have always believed that SMU Resident Advisors were people that you could turn to if you needed help or advice; I thought they were our friends. But I've recently been awakened to the idea that some of the RA's here may enjoy the extra power a little too much. I've been hearing stories from a friend (who I will call John) about his RA who, in essence, set up a sting operation on him and his room. The RA waited for John to leave his room and enter the elevator in the hall, during which he proceeded to call the police. He then ran down four flights of stairs, met John at the front of the building, and guided a police officer (telling the officer over the phone that John was the culprit) towards him. John was stopped before getting into his friends car and questioned in regards to the smell of marijuana emminating from the hallway around his room. In reality, there had been no stench, and there was no marijuana. The officer saw that everything was fine and proceeded on with his daily business. Now this is downright unconstitutional. Who is a RA to chase down a student, call the police on them, and then charge them with a crime that they have no evidence of ever happening? Isn't it true that in this country one is innocent until proven guilty? Whats with all the shady actions? I've been wondering though... What should he do about this problem? Should he talk to the school about his RA's behavior? Or should he confront him about it?

The First Post
Welcome! This is the first post of my new blog. So, lets talk about just that: blogging. I've never been much of a blogger before, but I think it might be interesting to write about my opinions in a way that other people can read and react to them. I really liked the blogs that were written by the two soldiers; It was awesome to see the point of view of those fighting under the flag of the USA. Also, I feel that blogging can be an important tool for classrooms ranging from highschool to gradschool. There are many students in classrooms who may be too shy to answer questions asked by the teacher, and because of this the teacher has no idea what they have or haven't learned. Blogging is a great way to overcome this problem, and can create much better teacher-student communication. Well, thats my two cents. See you next time.
