Parking On Campus... Or the Lack of

So here I am, coming back to campus after getting lunch from quiznos (mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm, toasty!) with 15 minutes to make it to my next class. "Perfect," I say to myself, "I have just enough time to park, run back to my dorm and grab my things, and make it to my class on time." But today is just not my day. I drive into Moody parking garage and begin searching for a parking spot, only to see five or six cars driving out of the garage at the same time. "Hmm..." I say. As I continue to drive up the garage, my hopes get slimmer and slimmer, until finally, I reach the top. And guess what: NOT A SINGLE SPOT IN THE WHOLE GARAGE. "Well, ok, it is lunch hour," I ponder, "I bet I can find a spot in Airline." Well, to make a long story short, no such luck their either. Even though I was perfectly back to campus on time, I ended up missing my class because I couldn't find a legal parking spot for 30 minutes. The parking situation on campus is just getting absolutely ridiculous. Not only am I forced to walk 10 minutes to my car everytime I want to use it because I am a freshman guy, but I also have to worry about the spot I was parked in dissappearing by the time I get back! How can this campus be so short on spots? Now, I realize that SMU is building another (massive) parking garage, but it's still super far away from where I live! Come now, is a decently close place to park my car too much to ask for?

Where is the nearest Quizno's? It seems like we have a global warming issue here as well as a parking on campus issue. Why do people on a college campus have to get in their cars to go off campus to grab lunch? Go Green! Walk, bike, skate--whatever, just don't use your cars for little trips. Save up your errands and use your car when you have multiple things to take care of that truly must take you off campus.
