The First Post

Welcome! This is the first post of my new blog. So, lets talk about just that: blogging. I've never been much of a blogger before, but I think it might be interesting to write about my opinions in a way that other people can read and react to them. I really liked the blogs that were written by the two soldiers; It was awesome to see the point of view of those fighting under the flag of the USA. Also, I feel that blogging can be an important tool for classrooms ranging from highschool to gradschool. There are many students in classrooms who may be too shy to answer questions asked by the teacher, and because of this the teacher has no idea what they have or haven't learned. Blogging is a great way to overcome this problem, and can create much better teacher-student communication. Well, thats my two cents. See you next time.

I'm wondering why so many students are writing on their blogs about how people are too shy to say their opinions in class. When I put these comments together with Jean Twenge's description of "Generation Me" as self-confident and assertive, there is something wrong with this picture. Either your generation has too much self-esteem or too little. Or is it possible to have a lot of self-esteem and want to protect it by not taking the risk of speaking up in class?
